Class Blog 4

After reading and summarizing the three articles, I have learned a few things about bullying. Lets start with what I have learned from my topic of bullying.
First, cyber bullying. Apparently, cyber bullying has been around for more than ten years now. Before I read the article, I thought that it was a recent type of bullying that maybe started around 2005. Another thing that I also learned was that agencies have a hard time finding who is bullying over the internet. I thought it was an easy process because they can just look at the admen name and trace it. But anything can change. Next the programs involved. After reading the article about different types of bullying programs, I didn't know there was a whole bunch of them. This tells me that they are helping kids who are getting bullied in school and not ignoring it. Last, the article about bullies. The only thing I learned is that bullies go at a different angle depending on who they are bullying. The rest is common logic.
Out of all three sources I used, I learned that bullying is still a problem in America, but isn't going unreported or being dealt with. After reading two articles, they said that there are, as I said before, programs for bullying and agencies that help out as well. But on some cases like at a school, they do go unreported and eventually something can happen to the kid being bullied. To be honest, the only information I found surprising to me was the article about the types of bullying programs are out there. After reading an article saying that it goes unreported and its a decision by an administrator weather or not to use a program, it tells us that there are programs out there that will help you if your getting bullied.
There are a few holes I have in my research that are also questions I have. First is the cyber bullying article. The questions I have are how schools deal with cyber bullying and what types of punishments do they hand down when they find out. To find these answers, I will probably research more journal articles about school bullying and see what comes up. My next questions come from the bullying programs article. They are how many schools are using these programs listed in the article and how will they motivate schools to address the problem of bullying. To find this, I will probably look somewhere else and do research on some of the programs to find my answers. Last is the information about bullying. The questions I have are do people who get bullied have a negative view of violence and the publication date. I will probably look at journals to find the view of violence question. But the publication date one, I will compare it to other information I find about bullying and see if the information is the same or close to is when  it was published in 2001.
